The Agent is the project’s map of the application. A capability is a purpose the application serves, such as finding evidence or routing a ticket. Internal roles, tools and model calls describe how that purpose is implemented. Ask this in the project conversation after creating the relevant tutorial or workflow results. A local scan combines an AST chassis with coding-agent interpretation. It records entry points, prompts, tools, conditions and transitions in overmind.toml. Python and TypeScript/JavaScript source can participate in the chassis.

A map is not an execution

A trajectory map describes source-backed possibilities. An available tool is not proof that the model selected it. A prompt instruction is not equivalent to a code-enforced branch. Missing conditions remain unmapped until the source establishes them. Anchor reachability checks establish structural consistency. They do not guarantee semantic correctness, exhaustive coverage or behaviour in production. Traces supply observed evidence for particular executions. The saved repository snapshot identifies the checkout at scan time. Sync time is separate: uploading an old scan later does not make it a fresh analysis. Older snapshots without provenance remain unknown, and live traces can come from a different revision.

Stable identity

Telemetry binds through overmind.capability.id, using a known UUID or slug. A display name is not the binding key. Ingest stores unknown identities as unbound rather than creating a capability from an arbitrary span. A scan that omits a capability makes it leftover and keeps its data. An explicit deletion removes it from current identity lookup while preserving historical evidence. Stable slugs allow display-name changes without changing identity.

Optional context

Capabilities help tie code, traces and task criteria together. They are optional for uploaded datasets, data-first training and standalone decision comparisons. The absence of a repository is not missing evidence when the task itself begins with data. For the procedure, see Map an agent repository.
